James Stewart, age 68, passed away on February 27, 2026. He was known better as "Jimmy" to those who loved him.
Jimmy was born on November 25, 1957, in Rockland County, New York, to John Stewart and Cecilia Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Cecilia; his sister, Diane; and his two brother-in-laws, Harold and Butch.
Jimmy is survived by his loving children: Kristen Rodriguez and her husband Roman; James Stewart; Nick Stewart and his wife Ana; Joe Stewart; and John Stewart. He was a proud grandfather to Luis, Roman, Veronica, Noah, Kayla, Olivia, Madison, Alaya, Maverick, Kingston, and Axel, and a cherished great-grandfather to Emory. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara and her husband David, and Carol; his brother, Jack; along with many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Jimmy was a proud New Yorker at heart and a loyal fan of all New York sports teams. He loved sports from a young age and played hockey and softball into his adult years. He especially loved coaching his own sons in baseball when they were growing up. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and chasing adventure, always drawn to a little danger and excitement. He worked as a truck driver and took pride in providing for his family.
Known for his quick wit and one-liners, Jimmy loved to make people laugh. He had a big personality, strong traditional values, and was proudly Irish. He described himself as a "traditional conservative" and stood firmly by what he believed. He loved The Beatles, followed politics closely, and never turned down ice cream or sweets. At heart, he was simple, genuine, and forever a kid.
Above all, Jimmy loved his children and his family. Being together meant everything to him, and the memories he created with those he loved will be treasured always.
