James Patrick O’Brien, lovingly known as James, Dad, Pat, Uncle Buzz, and most importantly, De, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 73, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on July 15, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pat was the son of Leslie and Donna O’Brien. A proud and dedicated worker, Pat spent many years with American Foundry Group, where he served as the manager of the Muskogee division before retiring. But beyond his professional accomplishments, Pat’s heart belonged to his family.
Pat was blessed to share his life with the love of his life, Rhonda O'Brien. Together, they built a family rooted in love, strength, and deep connection. He was a devoted father to Les (Jayme), Patrick (Amy), and Michael (Sarah), and a cherished grandfather to Ella, Emma, JP, Quinn, and Case. His family was his world, and he was endlessly proud of each of them.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leslie O'Brien; his mother, Donna O'Brien; his brother, Stan; and his sister, JoAnn. Though their absence was felt deeply, Pat carried their memories with love and reverence.
Pat leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering devotion. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his siblings Rick (Vicki), Bootsey, Kay, and Carlton, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends who will miss him dearly.
A man of simple joys and deep heart, Pat loved fishing, his many cats, his loyal dogs, and sharing his snacks with them as if they were his own children. Known fondly as the “hummingbird whisperer,” he found peace in nature and delight in the little things—like whistling a tune or sneaking in a bit of mischief. His ornery charm and contagious laugh were the hallmarks of his spirited soul. A gentle man with a wrestler’s strength, he embraced life with humor, kindness, and unconditional love for those around him.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Schaudt’s
