James Gerald Mason
July 17, 1958-July 14, 2026
James "Jim" Mason passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 67.
Jim was born on July 17, 1958, in Edmonton, Alberta, to Elwood Mason and Lilian Spencer. Jim spent his childhood learning, reading, and getting into boyish trouble with his siblings and friends. If you ever talked to Jim about his childhood, it probably involved some sort of shenanigans.
His curiosity and creativity in solving problems served him well in his career. In his early adult life, he enjoyed exerting himself physically while working in a steel mill. Later, he exerted his mental strength working in the oil and gas and technology fields. Jim enjoyed the camaraderie of his colleagues and deeply valued the friendships that he built in the workplace.
Jim's intelligence lent itself to his quick wit and sense of humor. He was always looking to make others laugh, and his loved ones could always count on a goofy accent, a funny face, or a silly joke to lighten the mood. Jim was an avid listener of music, and he enjoyed singing, whistling and dancing along. He was quite the billiards player, and he loved to read.
More than anything though, he loved his family. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, Pamela, and brothers, Brian and Miles. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, his daughters, Lilian (and husband, Justin), Samantha (and husband, Eddie), and Corinne (and husband, Koby), his grandsons, Cameron, Cooper, and Mason, and his eldest brother, Lynn. He also leaves behind a large and loving extended family.
