James Dawson Walters

James (J.D.) Dawson Walters, a beloved husband and devoted father passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at his home in Glenpool, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the age of 84 years. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on the lives of those who knew him.


James was born on September 25, 1938, in Agricola, Mississippi, to his parents, William and Ollie (Rush) Walters.


During his journey, James had the fortune of meeting the love of his life Linda Calvey. Their connection was undeniable, and they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that would endure for 52 years.


Professionally, James excelled as a Systems Analyst and steel guitarist. With his sharp intellect and dedication to his craft, he made significant contributions to his field and the music industry alike. His expertise and attention to detail were admired by colleagues and clients alike. James approached his work with passion and precision, leaving an indelible mark on those he collaborated with throughout his career.


James was a loving husband, and his devotion to his family was unwavering. He created a warm and nurturing home where love and laughter filled the air. As a father, he was a constant source of support, encouragement, and wisdom. James was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975 and remained faithful until his death.


James is preceded in death by his father, William Walters, his mother, Ollie Gray Rush, sisters Mary Bush and Lorene Marker, and son Glenn Walters. He is survived by wife, Linda Walters of the home, children Barry Walters (Susan), Dana Walters, Gina Chapman, Tanya Farmer (Patrick), and Lonnie Walters (Shawnda), and numerous grand-children and great grand-children whom he loved dearly.


A memorial ceremony will be held at the Kingdom Hall in Bixby, Oklahoma at a later date along with a Celebration of Life commemorating James's lifetime music career.


The arrangements for James's farewell have been entrusted to Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers, located at 1329 East 151st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033.
