Hunter Yahv Washington, a beloved son, brother, and friend, departed this world on Monday, January 1, 2024, at the age of 20. He was born on January 22, 2003, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to his proud parents, Robert Washington Jr. and Diana Beasley.


Hunter leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, remembered by his parents Robert Washington Jr. and Diana Beasley. Siblings Carmen Burgess, Chance Beasley and wife Amanda, Christyn Barnett and partner Timothy, and Thunder Washington. He was adored by his grandparents Irene Washington, and predeceased by Reverend Robert Washington Sr., Freeman Lowe, and Cheryl Grayson. Hunter also leaves behind eight nephews and two nieces along with uncles and aunts.


Hunter was a hardworking individual who contributed to the Okmulgee community as a builder at the Okmulgee Coke plant. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 2021, and his passion for music, particularly playing both acoustic and electric guitars, was a source of joy in his life.


Hunter will be remembered for his vibrant personality. His family describes him as a cool, stubborn yet a personable individual, possessing a great smile and was also silly and goofy. Hunter loved spending time with family and friends, and his enthusiasm for sharing stories about Bigfoot and UFOs, as well as his early fascination with elephants and various animals.


A gathering and time of remembrance will be held at Schaudt Okmulgee Funeral Service on Monday, January 8, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service to honor Hunter's life will take place at Big Cussetah United Methodist Church in Morris, Oklahoma, followed by a graveside service at the Okmulgee Indian Baptist Church Cemetery in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The officiants for the services will be Gary Long and Reverend Gary Dunn.


Pallbearers for Hunter's final journey include Kendrick Lewis, Jessie Ortiz, Gavin Garcia, Sunecke Tarpalechee, Matt Osceola, and Isaac Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers are Kolby Burgess, Keegan Burgess, Koen Burgess, Kye Wilson, Kaine Wilson, Taylen Williamson, Kyler Lindsay, and Kingston Mansfield.
