Herman Ray Taylor

Herman Ray Taylor age 78 of Glenpool, Oklahoma died Monday, March 8, 2004. He was born in Byars, Oklahoma on November 23, 1925. At the age of 2 years old his family moved to Slaton, Texas. He served in the military from 1944-1945 and was captured by the Germans as a prisoner of war. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal; EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Medal; Victory Ribbon; and 1 Overseas Service Bar. He was a member of the VFW
He married Juanita Bingham in 1946. He farmed and ranched in Hockley County until 1976 at that time he went to work at St. Mary's Hospital until he retired in 1993. Last year Mr. Taylor and his wife moved to Glenpool, Oklahoma from Wolforth, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Taylor of Glenpool, Oklahoma; 2 sons: Martin Taylor and Wayne Taylor of Mounds, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lillie Phillips of Slaton, Texas, and Bertha La Rue of San Angelo, Texas.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his father, Luther Taylor, his mother, Lula Taylor; 4 brothers: Calvin Taylor, Jessie Taylor of Slaton, Texas; George Taylor of Tuttle, Oklahoma; Walter Taylor of Cleburne, Texas; 2 sisters: Myrtie Grundy and Ada Edwards of Cleburne, Texas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Service and Wednesday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Lubbock, Texas, with Rev. John Donnerberg, officiating.
