George Lazarte

June 30, 1957 — January 20, 2026

George Noel Mendiola Lazarte passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 68. He was born on June 30, 1957, in Quezon City, Philippines, and was the beloved son of the late Gregorio Lazarte and Rosario (Mendiola) Lazarte.

"Jojie" or "Parduds," as he was affectionately known by family and friends, lived a life filled with generosity, laughter, and deep devotion to God, family, and the dreams he tirelessly pursued. From an early age, he possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. With natural business instincts and a sharp mind, George found success in many endeavors-from selling bananas, to importing and reselling used cars from Japan, to running an auto shop and selling custom mag wheels. He later strengthened and expanded the stevedoring company he inherited from his father and went on to build several apartment buildings in the Philippines. His success allowed him to bless those around him and become a steadfast provider and protector for his family, friends, and countless others in times of need.

George is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Victorina "Vicki" Lazarte, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage-a life rich in love and an unbreakable bond forged through cherished moments and challenges weathered side by side. Also left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Valerie (Lazarte) Lagason and Violet (Lazarte) Chapin, who will forever remember his wonderful bedtime stories; his son, Jaykie Lazarte, his great pride and joy; his sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, Benedict Lagason, Gregory Chapin, and Eliza Victoria; and his treasured grandchildren, whom he spoiled with love and gifts-George Bentley, Vince Pablo, Maya Elara, Grant Leon, and Tala Rue.

He is further survived by his beloved siblings, sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law: Imelda (Lazarte) Fajardo; Glenn Lazarte and Cherri (Bognot) Lazarte; Roger Lazarte and Tessa (Bognot) Lazarte; Emily (Lazarte) Acosta and Robert Acosta; Ferdie Lazarte and Mariquita (Rono) Lazarte; Ronnie Lazarte and Arlene (Barrientos) Lazarte; and Gresar Lazarte and Angie (Monces) Lazarte, as well as his cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Lazarte and Rosario (Mendiola) Lazarte, and by his brother-in-law, Jun Fajardo.

George will always be remembered for his big smile, infectious laugh, and the unwavering care he showed those he loved. Having lost his parents at an early age, he assumed the role of father figure, rock, and guardian for his siblings as the oldest son. He provided his wife, children, and grandchildren with a life of comfort and security, filled with joy and meaningful moments.

He loved horses and horseracing and delighted in games of chance such as poker. He enjoyed good food and found happiness in seeing others enjoy it as well, whether by taking loved ones out to eat or welcoming them to a hearty meal at home. In his youth, he excelled in basketball and billiards. His vivid imagination made him a gifted storyteller and inspired the playful, endearing nicknames he gave those closest to him. He relished the Filipino music of his era, listening to the heartfelt songs of Rey Valera and Rico J. Puno, and dancing to the swinging tunes of Hotdog and Hagibis.

George will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, cherished memories, and the profound impact he made on so many will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
