Eduardo “Eddie” Gonzalez passed away February 5, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Born in Washington state, Eddie later moved to Idaho where he excelled in high school wrestling, baseball, and football, winning multiple football state championships. After graduating, he worked at a potato factory before joining the US Army.
It was in his first duty station in El Paso, Texas where he met his wife Blanca and they began their life together, later having two daughters. He served proudly for 20 years including an overseas deployment during the Gulf War. While completing his military service, Eddie earned his bachelor’s degree and graduated summa cum laude. After retiring, he continued his education and received his master’s degree as well.
Throughout his life, Eddie enjoyed spending time outdoors. You could find him on a nice sunny afternoon riding his Harley Davidson, golfing, fishing, hunting, or shooting. He’d frequently turn fishing into a family activity and even if there wasn’t a catch of the day, he’d probably take them for fish tacos after. And after a long day in the sun, he was happy to wind down watching sports, cheering on his favorite teams, the Seattle Seahawks and Texas Longhorns.
While he wasn’t always one to pose in front of the camera, behind the camera Eddie could be found taking pictures of his family, especially during big moments like his daughters’ and wife’s graduations, or when he was traveling on vacation. A collector of coins, he’d also make sure to grab one for a souvenir wherever he went, especially if there was a Hard Rock Cafe around.
In his later years, he settled into the role of Pop-pop, doting on his two grandsons and building Lego sets with and for them. Legos soon became another big hobby of his as well as going to many musicals, concerts, and movies. He could also be spotted estate sailing with Blanca on the weekends looking for a good deal.
Eddie was a big presence when he walked into a room. He always had a joke or a way to make everyone laugh. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, you had a fierce protector, a shoulder to lean on, and a friend for life. His loss will be felt deeply by those around him.
