Earnestine Howell

September 18, 1927 — March 1, 2022

Ernestine (Burdine) Howell, 94, passed away at home on (March 1) in Fairfield, California, where she lived with her family. She was born in Lenna, Oklahoma to Talmadge and Ollie Burdine and lived much of her adult life in Stidham and Muskogee, Oklahoma.

The matriarch of a close-knit family, Ernestine was known for her sharp intelligence, quick wit, and kind demeanor. She enjoyed a vibrant social life with her late husband, Lewis Howell, who passed in October 2005. In her later years, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Lucian Pratt. In addition to them, she is survived by her son, Ron and wife Carmel Howell of Corona, CA.

Ernestine was a wise and funny mentor and beloved grandparent to her grandchildren, Shelly and Traci Pratt of the home in Fairfield, CA and Joseph and his wife Stacy Pratt of Tulsa, OK; and Christina Robinson of Lompoc, CA as well as great-grandchildren Bryan Garza and Madeline Pratt of Tulsa, OK and Talisia, Marcus, Cienna and AJ of Lompoc, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Bonnie Amis and Wanda Dixon of Lompoc, and Carolyn Caldwell of Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is survived by her sister Mary Howell as well as many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

A visitation will be held at 4:00 p.m. on March 13 at Schaudt Funeral Service in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 14 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
