Dr. Larry Zinn

June 18, 1948 — June 5, 2025

Dr. Larry Lloyd Zinn, cherished husband, Dad, Grandad, and friend, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, June 5, 2025-just shy of his 77th birthday.

Larry was born on June 18, 1948, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Domby and Marietta (Nance) Zinn. He grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Northwest Classed High School, where he wrestled and played football. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War stationed in the Mediterranean on the USS Sylvania. After serving, he pursued his passion for science at Oklahoma State University earning a PhD in Physiology. He later dedicated his career to forensic science, retiring in 2017 as the Director of Quality Control at the Tulsa Police Department Crime Lab.

It was at Oklahoma State University where Larry met the love of his life, Judy Wollscheid, sparking a lifelong partnership. Married for 43 years as of March 6, they were true teammates in every aspect-season ticket holders for OSU athletics, co-grandkid wranglers, and, most importantly, best friends.

Larry embraced life with a curiosity that led him down many paths. As a stained glass artist, avid reader and fisherman (fearless noodler) he approached each hobby with determination and attention to detail. Larry was most known for his legendary collection of witty "Larryisms." In his later years, his greatest joy was found in quiet moments-rocking on his porch, gazing over his land, and spending time with his beloved family. A devoted OSU Cowboy, Larry passionately cheered on his team, attending football games and wrestling matches with unwavering loyalty. The Zinn family has bled orange for three generations.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Keith Zinn, and his sister Donita Peterson. He leaves behind a deeply grateful and loving family: his wife Judy; daughter Jessica Miller; son Dr. David Zinn; daughter Megan Haralson; sons-in-law Chris Miller and Cory Haralson; daughter-in-law Annie Zinn; seven adored grandchildren; and his beloved bull mastiff, Newt. He will be dearly missed by many other relatives and friends who will forever cherish his humor snd laughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, his birthday, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service, 1329 East 151st Street South, Glenpool, Oklahoma, with Celebrant Brandon McCombs officiating.
