Doris Christel Wicks, born on August 17th, 1941, in Berlin, Germany, embarked on her final journey on February 10th, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a woman of profound intellect, grace, and unwavering dedication, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.

Doris's life was marked by a remarkable journey across continents and cultures. In 1965, she ventured to the United States alongside her first husband Daniel Curtis Collins, who preceded her in death, and her daughter, seeking new horizons and opportunities. The two met while Daniel was stationed at Checkpoint Charlie and Doris was a tour guide. After establishing roots in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she embraced her role as an educator with passion and zeal.

As a distinguished professor at the University of Tulsa, Doris imparted her knowledge and love for languages, specializing in German and French. Her commitment to education extended beyond the university walls, as she also shared her expertise at Monte Cassino, enriching young lives of many with her linguistic prowess.

Doris's family was the cornerstone of her existence. She is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Wicks. Doris and Harold met at the German American Society and married in 1987. Doris is also survived by her two beloved children, daughter Christina Collins and son Marc Collins. Her love and guidance extended to her grandchildren, Andreas, Alexander, Daniel, Zachary, Samantha, Sophia, E and Josephine and great-grandchildren, Adrian, Adrina, Matthew and Kallie leaving an indelible imprint on their lives.

In her leisure, Doris found solace in exploring the world around her. With a passion for travel ignited by her European roots, she journeyed across continents, with Paris, France, holding a special place in her heart. Her love for the French language and culture was evident in every aspect of her life, reflecting her profound appreciation for the beauty of diversity.

Doris's life was a testament to the fulfillment of dreams and the pursuit of adventure. She embraced every moment with a zest for life, leaving no stone unturned in her quest for fulfillment. With her bucket list completed and her spirit soaring, Doris Christel Wicks bids farewell to this world, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for generations to come.

In the embrace of her loving family and the echoes of her legacy, Doris's spirit shall endure, a beacon of light guiding those she touched toward a brighter tomorrow. Though she may have departed this world, her memory shall forever remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of Doris's life will be held 1:00pm, Monday, February 19, 2024 at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133.
