Derrek W. Richardson

Derrek Waldon Richardson age 31 passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at Saint Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma as a result of a kayak accident.
Derrek was born March 23, 1979 in Jackson, Mississippi to Danny Waldon Richardson and Connie Jean (Griffin) Richardson. He graduated from Hillcrest Christian High School in 1997. Derrek continued his education and received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Hinds Community College and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Sports Medicine from Freede Hardman University in Henderson, Tennessee. Derrek worked as a registered nurse at Saint Francis Hospital for the past three years.
Besides kayaking, Derrek enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and playing with his Great Dane (dog).
Derrek is survived by his parents: Danny and Connie Richardson of Terry, MS; his grandparents: George and Jean Roberson, Francis Richardson; his sister: Tracy Parker of Terry, MS; his three nephews: Christian Richardson, Zachary Dickey, John Parker; his girlfriend, Stella Lewis of Tulsa ; his "special friend" Grant of Tulsa; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services will take place in Terry, Mississippi at First Baptist Church. Reverend John Pace will officiate.
