In Loving Memory of David Charles Reif


David Charles Reif, a dedicated husband, loving father, and honorable military veteran, passed away on October 1, 2023, in Jenks, Oklahoma, at the age of 83. He was born on November 29, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to his proud parents, Anton and Pearl Reif.


Although David was born in Los Angeles, his heart belonged to McAlester, Oklahoma, where he spent his formative years. He completed his early education at St. John's School in McAlester before pursuing higher education at Benedictine Heights College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A significant milestone in his life came when he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1963.


David's commitment to his country was unwavering. He joined the United States Navy on June 5, 1963, in McAlester, Oklahoma, and served with pride and distinction until his honorable discharge in San Francisco, California, on July 23, 1970. During his service in Vietnam as a River Boat Advisor, he demonstrated remarkable courage and dedication, earning the Bronze Star with the Combat "V," among several other decorations and medals.


On July 3, 1966, David married the love of his life, Sheila, and their enduring bond of 57 years was a testament to their love and devotion.


David is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Paul Donahue Reif.


He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Reif, his son John David Reif, and his daughters, Keeley and Katie Reif. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his daughter Aimee McClary Douglas and her husband, Brian, along with their son Spencer Paul Douglas. His daughter Erin Elizabeth Haag and her husband, David, also cherish his memory, along with their sons, Riley and Noah Janssen, and daughter London Haag.


A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate David's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel, located at 9101 S Harvard Ave, Tulsa, OK 74137.
