Danny Hemric, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, educator, and friend, passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 77. Born in his family home in East Bend, North Carolina, Danny grew up surrounded by a large, loving family as one of eight siblings.
A gifted athlete, Danny earned a full football scholarship to Appalachian State University after high school, a testament to his dedication and strength of character. He pursued not only athletic success but also academic excellence, eventually earning his Master's degree and committing his professional life to special education. As a teacher, he was patient, passionate, and unwavering in his belief that every child deserved a chance to succeed. His legacy in education continues through his daughter Tamra Day and granddaughter Kayla Overman, who followed his path into education.
Danny made his home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where he remained deeply rooted in family and community. He was a man who lived for the people he loved - a devoted father, proud grandfather, and joyful great-grandfather. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife Beverly "Bunny" Hemric, his partner in all things. Together, they traveled extensively, often embarking on long adventures that allowed them to explore the world and deepen their bond.
Danny had a soft spot for fishing trips, Miami Dolphins football, and the quiet comfort of time spent with his dog, Bingo, his loyal long-haired Chihuahua. He cherished his best friend Dee Hennigan and found joy in both deep conversations and the simple pleasures of life.
Danny is survived by his daughter Tamra Day; granddaughter Kayla Overman; great-grandchildren Averie Neal and Kingston Neal; his best friend Dee Hennigan; and his cherished companion Bingo. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly "Bunny" Hemric; his mother Mamie "Roberts" Hemric; and his father Ernest Hemric.
Danny's life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication, and love. He touched many lives, and his memory will be carried forward in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy lives on not only in the family he raised and the students he taught but in the enduring warmth of a life well-lived.
