Charlotte Ann Wolford

March 25, 1940 — April 29, 2026

Charlotte Ann Wolford, 86, formerly of Rural Retreat,

Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, April 29.

Charlotte was born March 25, 1940, in Clothier, West Virginia, to the late

Robert Bruce Burchett and Mabel Fern Clark Burchett. She made her home

for many years in Rural Retreat, where she attended Rural Retreat United

Methodist Church and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Charlotte poured

her love into her family-first as a devoted mother and later through her work

in senior care as a registered nurse. She had a steady faith, taught her family

a deep devotion to Jesus, and was known for the quiet, faithful ways she

served others-whether it was leading Bible study with her friends at church,

packing backpacks for children in the Rural Retreat community, or welcoming

people with a warm meal. A passionate cook, she was especially known for

her famous fried chicken. And if you knew Charlotte, you likely knew about her

beloved little dog, Boots.

Charlotte's love lives on through her family. She is survived by her children:

Derek Wolford and Vicki of Clover, South Carolina; Julie Jackson and David of

Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Mike Wolford and Danielle of Vero Beach, Florida. She

also leaves behind her grandchildren: Clint Wolford and Amy, Carey Bruining

and Sam, Caleb Jackson and Katie, Cash Jackson and Sarah, Paige Fleming

and Isaac, Malory Montezuma and Bryce, and Brooke Marine and Lucas; as

well as her great-grandchildren: Adah, Maddie, Graham, Owen, Eli, Emma,

Dean, Roman, and Evelyn. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Bruce and Mabel Burchett, Charlotte was preceded

in death by her husband, James (Jim) Wolford; her brother, Jack Burchett; and

her sister, Monte Rowe.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the fall in Wytheville, Virginia.
