Charles Ross Thompson, 85, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, was born May 21, 1940, in Ranger, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas, Austin. In 1964, he married Jo Lynch after the two met in Meridian, Mississippi, beginning a lifelong partnership built on commitment and shared experiences.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a pilot, a role that reflected both courage and discipline. Following his military service, he continued flying for the United States Geological Survey, carrying his passion for aviation into his civilian career.
A highly intelligent and analytical man, Charles enjoyed working math problems simply for the challenge. He also found great pleasure in playing the guitar, riding motorcycles, repairing cameras, and drawing. He was a man who stayed curious and engaged with the world around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lois (Brock) Thompson.
He is survived by two sons, Colin of Newark, Ohio, and Brian of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two special daughters, Jana Thompson and Lori Thompson; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Dominick, Sara, and Hailey.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
