Charles Shepard, age 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and son, was called to his eternal resting place on October 10, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1946, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Claude and Vera Shepard.
Charles lived a life filled with love, hard work, service, and devotion to the people who meant the most to him. A proud military veteran, Charles also dedicated 12 years of his life to serving as Sheriff of Okfuskee County. Through his service, he demonstrated his commitment to his community and the people he was honored to serve.
One of the greatest blessings of Charles's life was his beloved wife, Brenda Shepard. The two met in Okemah, Oklahoma, and shared 24 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, memories, and companionship. Brenda was his partner through life's many adventures, and together they created a bond that will forever be treasured.
To his family, Charles was affectionately known as "Papa Cows," a special name that will always bring back fond memories and warm smiles. He was a man with a strong will and a stubborn streak, but beneath that determination was one of the sweetest hearts imaginable. Charles was the kind of person who would do anything for anybody. He had a generous spirit, a willingness to lend a helping hand, and a heart that made room for the people he loved. His family was his greatest treasure, and the time he spent with them was among life's most precious gifts.
Charles found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and gardening, finding peace and satisfaction in working the land and spending time outdoors. Whether he was tending to his garden, enjoying a day of fishing, or spending time with his loved ones, Charles knew how to appreciate the things that truly mattered. His love for his family was evident in the way he cared for them, supported them, and made himself available whenever he was needed.
Charles leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his devoted wife, Brenda Shepard; his sons, Chad Shepard and Ethan Shepard; his brother, Richard Shepard; his ten grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of his love, his wisdom, and the countless memories they shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Scott Shepard; his parents, Claude and Vera Shepard; his sister, Phyllis; his brother, Gary; and his sweet dog, Sugar, who held a special place in his heart.
Though Charles's earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his strong spirit, his kind heart, his willingness to help others, and the deep love he had for his family.
His absence will leave an immeasurable emptiness, but the legacy of love he leaves behind will never fade. As his family holds close the memories of their beloved Papa Cows, they can find comfort in knowing that the love they shared with him will remain a part of them forever.
Charles will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
