Carolyn Jeanne (Moore) Henning, 91, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, peacefully met her Savior on September 22, 2025, at OSU Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was just two weeks shy of her 92nd birthday.
Born in Tulsa on October 7, 1933, Carolyn was the daughter of Henry Garland Moore and Waunita Ann Moore (born Edith Waunita Spees) and the granddaughter of Dr. Stephan Decatur Spees, a physician and pastor, and Lucille Devore. As part of an early prominent Tulsa family, she also shared the unique distinction of having been delivered by her own grandfather, Dr. Spees.
On January 20, 1952, she married ex-husband Bobby Gene Henning, with whom she had two daughters, Barbara and Patricia (Pat).
She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in 1951 and graduated from NSU in 1976 and followed with post-graduate hours at OU. While she spent most of her life in Tulsa, she also lived for short periods in Hawaii, New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida.
Carolyn will most be remembered for her life of service to others. This was evident in her many decades as a Social Worker for the State of Oklahoma, for which she received state and national accolades. Even after retirement, she continued to find meaningful ways to work, serving as a transporter for Hertz at the airport and an educator with the OSU Community Nutrition Education Program.
This lifelong commitment extended to her dedicated support of her Owen Park Community neighbors and her involvement with her Centenary Methodist Church family. Friends, family, strangers, and anyone in need knew they could always count on Carolyn. She embraced life with a joyful spirit, finding pleasure in dancing and music, family gatherings, as well as the outdoors through sailing and hiking in Colorado. Her love for travel was cemented by her cherished vacations in Hawaii.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Moore and Waunita Moore, her brother Gary Moore, and her grandson John Tedder.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Barbara Tedder (husband Joe) and Patricia (Pat) Little (husband John).
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Rachel, Jessica (wife Katy), and Sarah (children of Barbara) and Brad, and Ryan and his wife Taylor (children of Pat). Stan Staggs, a former son-in-law, is the father to Brad and Ryan. Step-granddaughter Melissa Knight (husband Jimmy).
Her legacy continues through her eleven great-grandchildren: Hannah, Justice, Macijah, Caspian, Phoenix, Blade, Amelia, Greyson, Rain, Colin, and Harper.
Also surviving her are her niece Renee Forehand, sister-in-law Marci Henning, and brother-in-law Jack Henning (wife Kathy), as well as her beloved cat, Pumpkin.
