Bonita Maddox

July 26, 1938 — December 18, 2025

Bonita Marvelle Maddox, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, surrounded by her family, with her favorite Neil Diamond music playing in the background.

Bonita was born on July 26, 1938, in Drasco, Arkansas, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength. She was the heart of her family and the kind of woman who made everyone feel welcome, accepted, and loved just as they were.

Bonita is survived by her beloved husband, Bob Maddox; her children, Suzanne Norwood of Johnson City, Tennessee, Amy Cypert and husband Bilane Cypert of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Rob Maddox and wife Toni of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Clint Maddox of Owasso, Oklahoma; Sarah Rome and husband Tyler Rome of Johnson City, Tennessee; Emily Dixon of Russellville, Arkansas; and Peyton Maddox of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Rylee Maddox, Daxton Stephens, River Dixon, and Isabella Dixon. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda Logan, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers- and sisters-in-law whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Eva Southerland.

Bonita's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved God deeply and served Him with a gentle, joyful heart. She spent many years teaching third grade Sunday school, sharing God's love with children, and later she taught young married adults, guiding and encouraging couples with her wisdom and grace. She was active in her church's sewing ministry and found joy in using her gifts to bless others. Family always came first, and she showed that love daily, through her care, her laughter, and her unwavering presence. She loved sewing, bird watching, gardening, and was an avid reader. Bonita was funny, smart, loving, and kind. She was strong in her faith and for her family, known for being nonjudgmental, accepting, and genuinely loving to everyone she met. To those who knew her, she was simply perfect-and to her family, she was a blessing beyond measure.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bonita's life on January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church, 5805 S. Sheridan Rd., Tulsa, OK 74145, with a fellowship celebration to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Pregnancy Center Tulsa.
