Robert Joe Stubblefield

Robert Joe "Bob" Stubblefield passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 83.

Bob was born on October 17, 1942, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to William Robert and Martha Jo (Huffman) Stubblefield.

Bob lived a life defined by service, perseverance, faith, and unconditional love. He practiced law for nearly six decades, dedicating his career to helping others and standing up for those in need. Even while facing serious health challenges, he continued going to work each day, determined to fight the good fight with the same strength and courage that characterized his entire life.

In 1977, Bob met the love of his life, Brenda, through what began as an ordinary lunch arranged by a mutual friend. What followed was an extraordinary love story. They were married on Valentine's Day, in 1978 and built a life together filled with faith, compassion, and a commitment to opening their hearts and home to children in need.

Although he began life as a carefree bachelor with no children, Bob embraced fatherhood with remarkable devotion. He lovingly adopted Brenda's three sons and, over the years, together they fostered and adopted five more children, becoming the proud father of eight beloved children, while also welcoming countless foster children, godchildren, and others who simply needed a place to belong. To them all, he was affectionately known as "Daddy Bob."

Bob's greatest accomplishment was the family he helped build. His love, wisdom, patience, and steadfast support stitched together what he lovingly called his "patchwork quilt" family. His encouragement shaped generations, and his legacy lives on through his wife, children, and 42 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of whom considered him their hero, mentor, and safe place.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and Martha Jo Stubblefield, and his brother, Bill Stubblefield.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Dr. Brenda Stubblefield; his eight beloved children; Marty Stubblefield, Brandon Stubblefield, Barrett and wife, Dr. Marla Stubblefield, Michael Roberts, Ashley Rockwell, Crystal Dobson, Celeste Malone & Melanie Roberts, 42 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Rick Stubblefield and wife Suzanne, and Lee Stubblefield and wife Josie, along with their families; and countless extended family members, foster children, godchildren, friends, colleagues, and clients whose lives were forever changed by his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.

Those who knew Bob will remember his quiet strength, unwavering faith, gentle heart, quick wit, and determination. Whether offering legal counsel, history lessons, collecting/selling electric trains, 50's toys & seasonal decorations (especially Halloween & Christmas), driving his treasured 1966 Red Mustang convertible in parades, cheering on his TU Golden Hurricane football team or simply showing up when someone needed him, Bob made people feel seen, valued, and loved.

His life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and selfless service. The family he built and the countless lives he touched stand as his greatest legacy. He was truly a rock to those who loved him and will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
