Robert James McCutchen

July 5, 1944 — July 24, 2025

Robert James “Bob” McCutchen passed into heaven on July 24, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81.

Born on July 5, 1944, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Bob’s journey through life carried him from Canada to Mississippi, Illinois, California, Washington, D.C., and eventually to Oklahoma. Each place left its mark, but none more so than Tulsa, where he planted roots that lasted a lifetime.

Bob graduated from Ambassador High School, Torrance, California in 1962 as a member of the new high school’s first 4-year graduating class. He studied at George Washington University, Washington, DC, and later was an “Alpha Class” member at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma during its founding year, 1965-66, being elected as the first President of the Freshman Class.

Bob was known for his deep intellect, thoughtfulness, honesty, and his caring nature. He was a student of the Bible, and his deep faith in God and salvation through Jesus Christ, were the foundations of his beliefs and values.

A lifelong supporter of Oral Roberts University basketball, Bob attended nearly every home game for 60 years. Throughout his life he enjoyed Southern Gospel Quartet music, both the harmonies and the message. Bob had a deep love for all his extended family of brothers, sister, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews - each one shaped in many ways by his quiet guidance, his loyalty and his prayers. He leaves behind many loving memories and family traditions. This world has lost a unique and good man!

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Klahre D. McCutchen and Eleanor J. (Haynes) McCutchen; his paternal grandparents, J. Walter McCutchen and Edna (Riffle) McCutchen; his maternal grandparents, Frederick Haynes and Gussie (Tuttle) Haynes; his brothers, Donald Bruce McCutchen and John Frederick McCutchen; and his nephew, Christopher C. Willis.

He is survived by his brother and sister, Richard D. McCutchen (Janice) and Janet E. (McCutchen) Conrad (Robert); sister-in-law, Eleanore Yasui; cousins, Bryan Haynes, David Haynes and Barbara (Haynes) Browne; nieces and nephews, Kathleen Dotson (David); E. Jason Fiscus (Samantha), John M. Conrad (Davaughn), Richard D. McCutchen, Jr. (Kelsee), Rebecca (Conrad) Fudge (Philip), and Bryan Conrad; as well as numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and close friends.
