Bill Ronald Stroud, 78, of Glenpool, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Born in Dallas, Texas, on August 30, 1946, Bill was the son of Afton "Maurice" and Ruth (Wimbush) Stroud. After graduating from Mesquite High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for three years before continuing many years of service in the reserves. He later attended Eastern Texas State University where he achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in History and Political Science.
While at the NCO Club, Bill met the love of his life, Anne Morrison. They were married in May of 1982 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and celebrated 43 years of marriage together.
Bill worked in various fields throughout his life, before settling into his career as a teacher. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of history and government with students. He also served as the In-School Suspension teacher at Glenpool Middle School, where his colleagues appreciated his sense of humor.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a skilled cook who loved grilling and growing hot peppers. He enjoyed reading history and western books. He was a prankster who took pleasure in getting a rise out of people. One of his passions was traveling to the mountains, historical sites, and parks.
Bill's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife, Anne Stroud; his sister Barbara Mackey; his sons, Andrew Stroud and wife Jennifer, and Sean Stroud and wife Lindsay; adopted daughters Deborah Stroud, Sherry Kerns, Lori Harrison; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Mason. He also leaves behind many other loving relatives and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Afton "Maurice" and Ruth Stroud; and brothers Jerry and Bobby Stroud.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service & Cremation Care Centers, 1329 East 151st Street South, Glenpool, Oklahoma, The interment will take place afterward at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
