Billy Joe Lee, 88, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1937, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to Sarah and John Lee.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he earned numerous honors, including Expert (Rifle), Marksman (Pistol), and Expert (Mortar). His time in the service was a source of pride throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gale; his parents; sister's Martha Thompson and Marjorie Tharp; and brother John Lee.
Bill is survived by his children, Jan (Russell) Cozort, Diana Tiger, Sherri (Greg) Hutchins, LaTonya (Jeff) Strancer, and Kela (Gary) Morgan; his sister Brenda (Bernie) Clegg; 12 grandchildren - Justin, Blake, Matt, Shane, Daniel, Colton, Bryce, Hailey, Joseph, Jonah, Jesse, and Siranna; and 14 great-grandchildren - Kolie, Kameron, Piper, Domanic, Sam, Taran, Tennyson, Cruz, Luxlee, Willow, Maelie, Jonie Rae, Maggie Mae, and Everleigh Kay. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Bill lived life to the fullest, doing what he loved, coon hunting in the bottoms, fishing and quail hunting, playing dominoes (he always seemed to pull the double six!). In his retirement years, he especially looked forward to the family's annual trip to the White River, a tradition filled with joy and lasting memories and more stories than you can imagine!
Known for his remarkable memory, he could recall the birthdays of his parents, siblings, children and even his grandchildren. Above all, Bill loved his family and friends deeply and was happiest when surrounded by them. Bill will be remembered for his humor, strength, and devotion to his family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew him!
A committal service to celebrate Billy's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2025 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Rd, Fort Gibson, OK 74434.
