Billy Don “Bill” Carl Obituary Billy Don Carl, a resident of Dustin, passed away July 28, 2010 at the age of 77. He was born August 9, 1932 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Theodore William Carl and Emma Marie Jordon Carl. He grew up in northern Hughes County. He moved to Wetumka in 1936 from Cheyenne. He started schooling at Lawnwood. He moved south of Dustin in 1939. He went to school at Pleasant View until 7th grade. He went to Dustin from 7th grade to 12th grade. He was married to Mildred Brown Horne on July 29, 1982. He worked in heating & air, pipeline, Salem rural water, and ranching. He and his wife Mildred operated the Carl’s Arena from 1987 to 2003. He loved roping and raising horses and cattle. He was a left-handed header and heeler. He helped many young people get started into roping. People say Bill was the last of the old time cowboys. He rode professional broncs and calf roped in his younger days. He was a member of the Carson Baptist Church. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Jeannie Marie Carl-Efrierin of Italy and Donna Kaye Midkiff of Shawnee. Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of the home, daughter, Linda and husband Fred Davis of Prague, step-daughters, Brenda and Mike Holmes of Canadian, Phyllis and Ricky Looney of Okmulgee, Glenda and Guftin Cox of Hanna, and Margaret and Lenzie Anderson of Wetumka, step-sons Eddie and Rhonda Horne of McAlester and Patrick Baugh and wife of Oklahoma City, sisters Betty Coleen and husband Joe Wagner of Claremore, Iris June and Joel Freeman of Lamar, Janice Marie Coble of Weleetka, and Sharon Sue Wallace of Anna, Texas, thirteen grandsons, five granddaughters, numerous great grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Carson Baptist Church in Carson, Oklahoma with Reverend Ron Black and Reverend Mike Matlock officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Carson Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Rickey Looney, Justin McCart, Brian Freeman, Jake Stapp, Jody Johnson and Clayton Frair. Honorary Pallbearers will be Boyd Louderback, Ronnie Stapp, Donnie Freeman, Roy Joiner, Brandon Wright and Mike Holmes.
