Beverly Klein Patterson

August 24, 1926 — October 14, 2023

Beverly K. Patterson, age 97, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2023, at Covenant Living at Inverness in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 24, 1926, to the late Blanche Thackery and Charles Klein. Beverly's journey began in Tulsa, where she attended Lee Elementary School and Horace Mann High School, eventually graduating from the Central High School class of 1943. She pursued her education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, majoring in Art, before transferring to the University of Oklahoma, where she became a proud member of Pi Beta Phi.

It was through her brother, Robert Klein, that Beverly was introduced to her future husband, Sidney W. Patterson. Together, they celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2012. They built their home at 2642 S. Columbia Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma, before moving to Inverness Village. A remarkable moment in their journey was their 50th anniversary when their daughter, Ann, organized the planting of trees and landscaping at the Riverside Drive and Interstate 44 interchange in honor of their founding and support of the Up With Trees organization.

Art was a lifelong passion for Beverly, and she dabbled in painting, sculpture, and clay modeling for many years. She was also a professional calligraphist, contributing her talents to create certificates for her church and various charitable organizations.

Beverly was a founding member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and was a charter member of the Faithful. She actively contributed to the Development Committee and remained a dedicated church volunteer, attending services in person and later via Zoom.

Her dedication to volunteering extended beyond her church involvement. Beverly was a devoted volunteer with the Children's Day Nursery, the Junior League of Tulsa, Philbrook PACers, and the Phi Beta Phi Alumnae Club. Her passion for travel led her to work with Philbrook Escort at Home and Abroad for 15 years, where she organized and led numerous art-related tours throughout Europe.

In addition to her many talents, Beverly was an excellent bridge player and was an active member of several clubs, participating in two to three groups every week. She also enjoyed reading and watching sports.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Ann Patterson Dooley, and her three brothers: Charles of Tulsa, OK, Robert of Grove, OK, and Hugh of Concord, MA.

Survivors include her son Russell and wife Hallee of San Juan, Puerto Rico, her granddaughter Tracy and husband Josh, and great-grandchildren Henri and Emma of Carmel, IN, and her grandson Nick and wife Natalie, and great-grandchildren Austin, Carly, and Nate of Winnetka, IL.

A memorial service to celebrate Beverly's life is scheduled for Friday, November 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM at John Knox Presbyterian Church, located at 2929 East 31st Street, Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Up With Trees at 1120 S. Boston, Tulsa, OK 74119, John Knox Presbyterian Church at 2929 East 31st St., Tulsa, OK 74105, or Inverness Village at 3800 W. 71st St, Tulsa, OK 74132.

Beverly's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy will continue to inspire us.
