Betty R Callen

Betty R. Callen age 81 passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at her residence in Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Betty was born on April 19, 1935 in Vamoosa, Oklahoma to John Grover Berry and Gracia Isola (Osborn) Berry.
She graduated from East Central University with a Bachelors of Science degree in education. She married Bobby Jake Callen on July 21, 1956 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Betty had a few careers during her life time. She taught kindergarten, she worked as a real estate agent and was the co-owner of several businesses. Betty had many hobbies including playing the piano, sewing, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. For many years she played the piano at church and loved singing in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her children and later in life for her grandchildren. In the last few years she crocheted caps for new born babies and donated them to hospitals. For most of her life Betty was a member of First Baptist Church in Tishomingo until moving to Broken Arrow in 2011 where she joined the First Baptist in Broken Arrow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby in 2005 and her son, Rodney Eugene Callen in 2015.

Betty is survived by her daughter Cindy Hawkinson and husband, Bob. Her grandchildren: Ricky DeFalco, wife Stephanie and their children, Aven, Kyah and Luca of Norman; Joey DeFalco, wife Nikki, their children Barrett and Harrison of Beaumont Texas; Meagan Nabors, husband, Josh and their children, Aubri and Gabriel; Sarah Schatz, husband Caleb and their children, Wyatt, Mady and Rayna; Rodney’s son, Stuart Callen; her sister, Gola Mae Fleming along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, friends and acquaintances whom she dearly loved.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Tishomingo at 2:00 PM Thursday July 14, 2016. This will be a life celebration so please bring your memories to share with the family. There will be no graveside service.
