Doyle Barry Kerr

Jan 2, 1941 — Jun 22, 2026

Doyle Barry Kerr passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2026, at the age of 85.

Barry was born on January 2, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to John and Thelma Vadney Kerr. He proudly served in the United States Army for 24 years and later served as Vice Chief of the Shawnee Tribe for 15 years. He was deeply proud of his Native American heritage and enjoyed sharing it through his beadwork, jewelry making, and participation in powwows, where he often danced in full regalia.

Barry never met a stranger. He was a gifted storyteller who loved sharing memories of his college days in Texas and his Army years, including playing football while stationed in Germany. He was an avid reader and music lover, especially smooth jazz. His home was always filled with music, and family gatherings often began with Barry turning on his favorite songs. Above all, Barry was loving, kind, and devoted to his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Kerr; his daughter, Staci Harken; his grandchildren, McKenzie and Marleigh; and his great-grandchildren, Hollis and Archie. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Kerr, and his son, Sean Kerr.

Barry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
