September 21, 1949 — January 16, 2024

Barbara Jean Shores, cherished mother, daughter, and esteemed oil lease specialist, peacefully departed this world on January 16, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on September 21, 1949, in Merced, California, Barbara's life was a testament to determination, warmth, and unwavering dedication to both her family and her profession.

From an early age, Barbara exhibited a talent for creativity, often making her own clothes. Later in life she would find solace and joy in the art of crochet, knitting, and quilting. Her nimble fingers brought to life countless beautiful creations that adorned the lives of those around her. Additionally, her love for music led her to play the piano and sing, bringing melodies of comfort and joy to her loved ones.

Barbara's journey led her to Oklahoma at the tender age of 3, where she found her home and community. She graduated from Central High School in 1967, laying the foundation for a life filled with purpose and commitment.

On October 17, 1976, Barbara entered into a sacred union with Larry Shores, sharing 38 years of love, laughter, and companionship. Together, they built a life rich in love and devotion, weathering life's challenges with unwavering strength and grace. Prior to her marriage to Larry, Barbara was wed to Melvin L. (Mike) Barton on November 24, 1967, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. From this union, two beloved sons were born. Though the marriage with Mike ended in 1974, the bond between mother and sons remained unbreakable.
