Barbara Jean Prescott passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 78.
Barbara was born on September 5, 1947, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Rosemary (Catterton) Prescott. She graduated from Jenks High School in 1966, where she proudly played the clarinet in the marching band. Her musical talents and school spirit were just the beginning of a life filled with curiosity and creativity. In 1971, she was honored as a finalist in the Miss Tulsa pageant, an accomplishment she fondly remembered throughout her life.
Following high school, Barbara continued her education at Tulsa Junior College (TJC), where she studied paralegal education. She also attended Bryan Institute Medical Dental Assistants School, receiving her education in dental assisting. Her desire to learn and expand her knowledge remained with her throughout her life.
Barbara worked for Cunningham Field Services, assisting with surveying projects. She also developed a deep passion for graphology, the study of handwriting. She was fascinated by the belief that a person's handwriting could reveal aspects of their personality and even reflect the writer's mood at the time it was written. Barbara delighted in analyzing handwriting and sharing her observations with family and friends, making it one of her most unique and memorable interests.
Barbara had a creative spirit and found joy in the little things that made life special. She loved the color teal, admired beautiful roses, and collected turtles throughout the years. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, whose music always brought her happiness. Perhaps nothing reflected her personality more than her love for Betty Boop. Betty Boop was Barbara's favorite, and she delighted in collecting and surrounding herself with everything related to the iconic character.
Above all else, Barbara was devoted to her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every opportunity to spend time with them and celebrate life's milestones together.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Rosemary Prescott; her brother, Dick Prescott, who passed away just one day after her; and her beloved son-in-law, Kevin.
She leaves behind many cherished memories with her daughters, Kena Ryan-Black and Victoria Corn; her sisters, Linda Gaylord and Peggy Haynes; her grandchildren, K.J. Black, Fred Black, Devin Tucker, Nicklaus Corn, and Aubrey Corn; her great-grandchildren, Rashida Black and Lilly Kay Black; along with many other loving relatives and a host of dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service Chapel, with Ryan Parschauer officiating.
