Audrey Marie Smith

Sep 2, 1940 — Jun 8, 2026

Audrey Marie Smith passed away with her family by her side on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 85 years old.

Audrey was born on September 2, 1940, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Mary and John Phipps. They later moved to Ponca City, where she graduated from high school. After graduating, she attended Bob Jones University, where she met Walt Monroe. They married in 1960, and had three children that she loved and devoted her life to here in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 2008, she married her forever love, Bill Smith, and they shared 18 wonderful years together. There was nothing Audrey loved more than traveling the world with Bill and spending winters together in Florida. Life was happiest for her during these years.

Audrey was devoted to her family. A skilled homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and creating a beautiful home for them. Her hospitality was infectious. Friends and family alike gathered for meals, games, and conversation.

She was also devoted to her faith. A long-time member of Memorial Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School in the children/youth department and later worked as the church secretary. She deepened her faith by attending Bible Study Fellowship and eventually became a group leader. Because of her beliefs and faith we know she is with her Lord and Savior.

Once her children were older, Audrey worked as an administrative assistant at her church, Saint Francis Hospital, and Wiley Publishing. She made many life-long friends through her employment that she treasured deeply. In her late 50's, Audrey attended The University of Oklahoma in Norman and received her bachelors degree.

Audrey's many interests outside the home included her love for theater, movies, music, and fashion. She volunteered at Tulsa Theater with the costume and make up team and spent many years volunteering at Saint Francis Hospital before her employment there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and John Phipps; brothers Gene and Glenn Phipps; infant son, Mark Monroe; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband Bill Smith of Tulsa; daughter Tracy Short and husband Gene of Bixby; daughter Karen Dotts and husband Greg of Tulsa; son Stephen Monroe of Tulsa; her grandson Michael McLean and wife Angela of Claremore; granddaughter Kristen Hayes and husband Damon of Coweta; granddaughter Ariel Harvey and husband Kevin of Coweta; great grandchildren Grant McLean, Blake McLean, Paige Hayes, and Emilia Hayes.

Those that knew her will remember her love for God, family, hospitality, and her fun spirit. Audrey's devotion to her family, her smile and laugh will be missed and forever remembered.

To further celebrate Audrey's life, family encourages you to wear yellow or green, her favorite colors, if attending her memorial.
