Audrey Kittelson

May 21, 1936 — June 26, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Audrey Marie Wagnild Kittelson, who left this world on June 26, 2025, at the age of 89. A resident of Tulsa, she passed away peacefully at Saint Francis Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Jackson, Minnesota, on May 21, 1936, Audrey's passion for learning led her to Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD, where she studied Art and English. She began her career sharing this passion as a high school teacher in Redwood Falls, MN. Although much of her professional life was spent owning and operating the Tulsa Merry Maids franchise with her late husband, Marshall, she always considered herself a teacher at heart.

Those who knew Audrey would describe her as a lover of life, a woman who embraced all it had to offer. Her creative and adventurous spirit brought joy to everyone she met. From spending a cherished year teaching in Germany to famously eating cheese sandwiches with Marshall while he was in dental school so they could afford to see the world, her life was filled with adventure. This same joyful energy was channeled into her creativity; whether dressing as a witch on Halloween, covering every surface of the home with Christmas decor, writing and performing entertaining skits, or painting works of art for her grandchildren, she was always creating something to bring happiness to those she loved.

Her family will always remember her constant willingness to help and the pure joy she radiated when spending time with her loved ones. This generosity extended to her friends and work, where her Merry Maids team will fondly recall the holiday gift baskets she created for each of them and her readiness for any invitation to go out for coffee, breakfast, or pie. She was also deeply involved in her community as an active member of Fellowship Lutheran Church and a cherished sister in the Delta Theta Chi sorority.

Audrey's greatest devotion was to her family. She shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with Marshall Kent Kittelson and found renewed happiness and companionship with her partner of 14 years, Travis Chambers. She is now reunited with her husband, Marshall, and her beloved son, John Marshall Kittelson, who preceded her in death.

Her memory will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind: her loving daughter, Amy; her sister, Marjorie Knudson; her four grandchildren, Alex Kittelson, Andrew Bates, Baylor Kittelson, and Adam Bates; and her devoted partner, Travis Chambers. Audrey's legacy of love, creativity, and boundless generosity will live on through them all.
