Anita Mireles

Anita Mireles joined the angels and is now with our Lord, passing away peacefully during the night in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her daughter Gloria caring for her nearby on May 5th, 2025.

Anita was born on January 1, 1932 to Isidria and Luis Hernandez in Tres Norias, Texas. She traveled between Texas and Michigan performing migrant work with her family. Then after fortuitous exchanges of chewing gum and earnest poetry she married Emilio Mireles on February 22, 1958 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish in Weslaco, TX. Together they had seven children; Mary Lou, Emilio Jr, Gloria, Roberto, Lisa, Raynaldo and Ramon. Anita was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother ;her towering stacks of fresh tortillas and her sweet laughter were enjoyed and remembered fondly by all.

She is preceded in death by her late husband Emilio Mireles, sons Roberto and Raynaldo Mireles; son-in-laws Kevin Messenger, Desmond George, her parents; Luis and Isidria Hernandez, sisters; Minnie Solis, Otila Zavala, Isabel Hernandez.

Anita is survived by her children; Mary Lou Messenger, Emilio (Robin) Míreles, Gloria George, Lisa (Alonzo) Robinson, (Missy) Míreles, Ramón (Cherish) Mireles , 8 siblings; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
