Andrew Polakovs, 73, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on October 15, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1952, in Virginia to Eduards and Edite Polakovs, who immigrated to the United States from Latvia seeking a new life for their family.
Andrew grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and later settled in Tulsa. His father passed away when Andrew was young, a loss that shaped his deep faith and quiet strength throughout his life.
By trade, Andrew was a talented computer programmer - intelligent, thoughtful, and detail-oriented. But beyond his career, his true calling was his faith. A lifelong student of the Bible, Andrew attended Bible college as a young man and remained deeply devoted to Christ throughout his life. He was an honorable and spiritual man, known for wearing his prayer shawl with reverence and for his steadfast commitment to serving God. After his retirement, he dedicated all his time to ministry and the Word.
Music was another of Andrew's great loves. He played guitar, sang, and led worship in Christian bands and church services over the years. His joy for music was infectious - a reflection of his happy, easygoing spirit. Though often quiet and reserved, Andrew had a gentle friendliness that made people feel welcome and at ease.
Andrew is survived by his beloved son, David Polakovs, and cherished granddaughter, Laura; his sisters, Dagmar Walter and Maruta Languedoc; his former spouse and mother of his son, Jeanette Harper Benda; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered as a humble, faith-filled man who loved the Lord deeply, cherished his family, and used his gifts to glorify God.
His life was a testament to grace, service, and unwavering devotion - and his legacy of faith will live on in all who knew and loved him.
