Wayne Ray Van Pelt

January 25, 1966 — December 13, 2020

On Sunday, December 13, 2020, Wayne Ray Van Pelt passed away surrounded by his beloved wife, Kristen J. Van Pelt, and his loving family. Preceded in death by his father, Allen Clyde Van Pelt, Wayne is survived by his mother Mary M. Van Pelt, daughters Megan Clark (Brian), Shianne Brown (Zack), siblings Steven Van Pelt, Matthew Van Pelt (Tammy), Brian Van Pelt (Angela) and Sharon Mills (Randy), and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born in California in 1966, he spent most of his life in Van Meter, Iowa, graduating from Van Meter High School. He worked in garage door repair and sales for over 25 years for Adams Door Company in Des Moines, Iowa and later DH Pace in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wayne was an avid team roper; quick witted and sarcastic, Wayne always said he was a heeler because headers never get the applause.

A true cowboy and horseman, having worked in his younger years on a large cow/calf operation in Iowa, he spent his days on the back of a horse. He loved deer and turkey hunting and fishing. Talented in so many ways, there was nothing Wayne could not build or fix.

Wayne was stubborn, kind, fearless, genuine and loved with all his heart. A devoted and loving husband, Wayne was loved dearly by all that knew him, and he will be terribly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Hospice in Tulsa, Oklahoma or the American Cancer Society.

A Celebration of Wayne's Life will be held summer 2021 in Iowa. Details will be circulated at a later date.
