Walter Forrest Johnson, Jr

Walter Forrest Johnson, Jr., 87, of Tulsa Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on January 6th, 2017. Walter was born on October 13th, 1929 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, toWalter Forrest Johnson, Sr. and Clara Mae Sherman (Rainsberger)Johnson.

Walter graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and after graduation he attended the University of Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship.

Walter worked as a food product salesman prior to his retirement. He enjoyed being with family, especially his wife Sammie. Together they enjoyed bowling, playing golf, baseball, bridge, and gardening.

He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheelsand was an active member of Woodland Christian Church in Tulsa.

Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sammie Lou Johnson; both parents, Walter Forrest Johnson, Sr. and Clara Mae Sherman (Rainsberger)Johnson; his daughter, Lorraine Johnson; and sister, Martha Ann Wilburn and her husband, Clarence.

He is survived by his children, Lloyd Johnson and wife, Connie; Larry Johnson and wife, Sonya; LuAnn Tomlinson and husband, John; Hope Bailey and husband, Doug; Bobbie Sanders and husband, David; Judy Hooper and husband, Kirk; sister Mary Lou Nelson and husband, DeWayne; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren,and one great, great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00PM - 7:00PM, Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, January 13th, 2017 at Woodland Christian Church in Tulsa, with interment to follow, at 2PM, at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, OK.

In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to Meals on Wheels.
