Virginia Mae Tiger

December 5, 1946 — October 16, 2021

Virginia Mae Tiger aged 74, of Okmulgee, OK, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 16, 2021, after her battle with COVID-19.

Virginia was born to Anna (Kilpatrick) Smith and Willard Smith on December 5, 1946, in Marshall, TX. Upon her high school graduation, Virginia, entered the workforce. It was while working at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK, that she met and fell in love with her husband Monte Tiger. They were married on August 3, 1973. Virginia and Monte lived in Tulsa, Eufaula, and Okmulgee, before they ultimately settled down and made a home in Mounds, OK, in 1980. She became a mother to three beautiful and smart girls who were her life. Virginia loved being a stay-at-home mom, who babysat for the neighborhood children, raised chickens and goats for a short time, enjoyed crafts, wood working, and making dolls. One of the hobbies she took great interest and pride in, was her gardening and the care of her plants. She loved her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and always tried to keep in touch with her siblings and their families as well. Family was her greatest joy in life. She and Monte were married for 37 years, until his unexpected death on their anniversary in 2010. Their marriage was built on Biblical principles and faith in Christ, which Virginia always shared with others. They attended Glenpool Church of Christ for many years. Shortly, before Monte's passing, they began attending Carbondale Church of Christ and was a member until her passing. Virginia had lived with her youngest daughter, Angela, and her family until their home was flooded in June of this year. She then moved in with her middle daughter, Michelle, for the two months prior to her passing. The family looks forward to the day when they will be reunited with both Virginia and Monte.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Monte Tiger.

Virginia is survived by her children, Lorie Thompson, and husband Thomas Sapulpa, OK, Michelle Barclay and husband Steven of Winchester, OK, Angela Cothran and husband Ben Cothran of Okmulgee, OK, grandchildren, Emily Thompson, Johnathon Thompson, Braden Barclay, Easton Barclay, Summer Barclay, Anthonie DeGraffenreid, Victoria Cothran, and Monte Cothran, along with other loving family and friends.
