Thomas Arthur Potter

Thomas (Tom) Arthur Potter, age 47, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, entered into rest on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Thomas was born on August 3, 1969, the son of Donna Sue (Downs) Reed and Michael Neil Potter. He attended both Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Thomas graduated with his bachelor's degree in Family Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University. He used his degree to help counsel many friends, who were in need of someone who would listen. Soon after his college graduation, he landed a job as a 911 dispatcher for the City of Tulsa. His love for public service was evident with the professions that he chose. He changed careers to work for the Tulsa Public Schools in the Department of Transportation as the Director of Education and Training. After leaving his position in Tulsa, he became the Director of Transportation for the Sapulpa Public School System. Tom, as his friends and co-workers referred to him, served as a police officer with the City of Jenks. He will be missed by his loving family, his two dogs, Sadie and Indy which he adopted, friends, and his police family.

Thomas is survived by his parents; Donna Reed and her husband Scott Reed, Michael Potter, Sr. and his wife Beverly, brother; Michael Potter, Jr., step-siblings; Shannon Reed - Herrick, Curt Reed and his wife Silvia, Chris Reed and his wife Melesia, uncles; Timothy Potter and his wife Rhonda, Paul Potter and his wife Moira, aunt; Judy Reilly and her life partner Dwane Wilson.

Viewing will be held 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Schaudt's Glenpool Funeral Chapel. 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at New Spring Family Church, 2907 W. 108th Place South, Jenks, Oklahoma 74037. Chaplain Keith Fallis-OK FOP will officiate.

Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5100 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.
