Samuel Lee Hawkins

SAMUEL LEE HAWKINS (Sr). Painting Contractor and Restauranteur. Born April 23,1947 and passed away on September 6, 2021, after a long battle with liver cancer. He is now free of the pain and fear caused by this disease during the past couple of years.


Sam was born to Hubert F. Hawkins and Rena Evelyn Bell Hawkins on April 23, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sam and his sister Marilyn Hawkins Daniel were the only two children of that family. Soon after Sam's birth, the family returned to Hubert's hometown, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sam grew up in Tulsa and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1965. He served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968 in Viet Nam.


Sam is survived by wife, Marilyn Hawkins and children Samuel Lee Hawkins Jr. and Melissa Hawkins Rinehart. Sister Marilyn Daniel. Two stepchildren from Marilyn, Dustin O'Dell and Jessica O'Dell.


Grandchildren Rachel Finkenstaedt Minton, Brandon Hawkins, Mallory Finkenstaedt, Laurel Finkenstaedt, Ryker Rinehart, Ramsey Rinehart, Jordan Crayton, Adam Scott, Tristan Scott, Amy Marie Schwartz, Lydia Schwartz, Zoe Schwartz, and Austin Schwartz as well as great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.


Sam's hobbies included boat racing, sprint car racing, boating, fishing, motorcycles, and motorhome travel.


Sam was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins (Hawkins, Flowers, and Bells).


Viewing will be at the Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Home, 5757 S. Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Private graveside rites will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.
