Samuel Hubert Wood

A funeral service honoring and remembering the life of Samuel Hubert Wood will be held Friday, January 4, 2018 at 2 pm at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Mark Green officiating. Sam passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. He was 73.

He was born on October 14, 1945 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Alice Lorraine (Johnson) Wood and Grady Grystle Wood.

Sam was a 1964 graduate from Tulsa Central High School and then continued his education at Tulsa Junior College and Oklahoma University.

He joined the United States Army in November of 1966. Sam proudly served our country for two years until he was honorably discharge in 1968 in Fort Lewis, Washington.

He was employed at Ramsey Winch as a mechanical engineer.

Sam had many talents. No matter what he did he was excellent at it. Most of his free time was spent gardening and completing woodwork projects. Sam had a love for sports cars and had worked on many cars during his life. One of his favorite things to do was to travel to Florida with his grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Papa. Out of all the talents and skills Sam had, being a good husband, father and grandfather were his proudest titles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice Lorraine (Johnson) Wood and Grady Grystle Wood.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sherry Wood; son, Mark Wood and his wife, Ann; daughter, Carrie Morris and her husband, Eric; grand-daughter, Anna Morris, two grandsons, Spenser Wood and Michael Morris and two step-grandsons, Kyle and Ryan Lawrence. He also leaves two sisters, Rose Taylor and Marcus Lynn Deming.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service.
