Robert Edward Dedeke

October 20, 1941 — April 4, 2021

Robert Edward Dedeke passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Tulsa, OK, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 20, 1941 to Walter and Mabel (Roepe) Dedeke on a farm near Concordia, MO. Robert was an Air Force veteran serving four years prior to going to college. He was always proud of his service to our country and proud to see his son, Eric, follow him in service with the Air Force as a physician. In 1967, Robert earned a Bachelors degree in Business Education and he earned a Masters degree in Adult Education from the University of Central Missouri in 1969.

After several years in education, he began a second career in the business world in Personnel Management/Human Resources with companies in Kansas and Oklahoma. Robert was Vice President of Human Resources with John Zink Co. of Tulsa in the 1980's - 1990's. He started his own executive search firm and continued to be a positive influence partnering with local companies and colleagues in the Tulsa area until his retirement.

Robert was very active all his life and he loved the outdoors. He had a gift for gardening and yard work and he and his wife treasured their home in Tulsa. Running and bicycling were passions of his and he enjoyed running races with his children and later with his grandchildren. He qualified for the Boston Marathon and continued running marathons into his 70's. He was a tremendous basketball fan and was very proud of his school days in Missouri playing for his high school team. His love for the sport led him to coach youth teams for each of his three children. The family cherishes memories of him attending OU football and OKC Thunder games with his children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Donna (Watkins) of 57 years. They are both members of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. Robert had three children and was most proud of them and their families. Brian (Christy Hidy), Eric (Bronwyn Woods) and Amy (Scott Blair) all live in Oklahoma. Robert was grandfather to seven grandchildren. A family service in his honor is planned for Saturday. Robert's motto was "Pain is Temporary" and he is at peace in the arms of the Lord.
