Richard Eugene Powell

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Richard Eugene Powell, known as "The General", will be 12:30pm on Monday at Rhema Bible Church in Broken Arrow. Richard will lie in state for viewing and visitation on Sunday, October 18, 2020 from 2:00~5:00PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Richard Powell, beloved minister to the outcast, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and coach. He was called to his eternal resting place on October 12, 2020 from Saint Francis Hospital, in Tulsa. He was 77.

Richard was born to Eugene Franklin Powell and Caroline Burnette Powell on October 10, 1943 in San Francisco, California. Known as the "Miracle Baby of San Francisco" he entered this world prematurely at just 2.5 pounds. As a “Navy brat” he lived on numerous military bases growing up, including Alaska and Japan. Richard married the love of his life, Susan Gottemoller, in Arlington Heights, Illinois on August 18, 1979.

Richard graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1995 and was licensed and ordained with Rhema Ministerial Association International. He was also licensed and ordained with the Church of God. He was a Bi-vocational minister and enjoyed ministering to the broken-hearted. Richard truly had a servant’s heart. He began a Nursing home ministry and became the Chaplain of multiple nursing homes, 13 hospitals, and also served as the Associate Pastor at Dallas Church of God. In his later years, he served as a Rhema Bible Training College Student Ambassador for the recruiting department.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Patricia Julian, Shirley Foster, and Beverlee Moore.

He leaves many loving memories with his wife, Susan Powell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, his children: Carolyn Diskey Cools and her husband Kaise, Richard Michael Powell and his wife Kelly Powell; along with his sister: Connie “Judy” Tow; His pride and joy have been his grandchildren: Faith Diskey, Madeline Diskey, Mitchell Diskey.

In lieu of flowers Richard’s desire would have been for anyone who wishes to do so to make all gifts and donations payable to Kenneth Hagin Ministries for their Word Partner Club (www.rhema.org/wpc) and/or Adopt An Inmate Program (To sponsor an inmate: Call Rhema Correspondence Bible School at (918) 258-1588, ext. 2216). This will help the family to enhance his memory and add to his enduring legacy.
