Richard David Rogers

October 6, 1945 — November 28, 2020

Richard D. (Dick) Rogers of Broken Arrow died November 28, 2020 after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born October 6, 1945 to Floyd (Jack) Rogers and Sallie (Jenkins) Rogers Specker. He married Shellie Watson on July 26, 1975. Dick was born at Claremore Indian Hospital, raised in Miami, Oklahoma where he graduated from high school in 1963. He attended NEO and Oklahoma State University. He was the very proud father of his two sons, Ryan Rogers of Coweta and Nathan (Nate) Rogers of Broken Arrow. He loved following (and sometimes coaching) them in their sporting activities. He thought his life was complete by having two sons, but later found out it was really complete when he became a grandparent to Ayden, Kye and Carter. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage and loved the fact he passed this on to his family.Dick was a baseball umpire and basketball referee for years. When his sons started to participate in sports he gave up that part of his life and became their personal umpire and referee in life. After 40 years as an insurance adjuster he retired to the golf course. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing with his golf buddies and giving them a hard time. As much as he loved sports, his true love was his family. He was preceeded in death by his parents; siblings Floyd Rogers, Wanda Rollins, Valda Diebold and Alma Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shellie, two sons, Ryan Rogers and Nathan Rogers, three grandchildren Ayden, Kye and Carter, as well as many nieces, nephews and their children. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brad Edgington and Stephanie Stevens, PA; and the wonderful staff of Seasons Hospice - Lisa, Lindsay, Joseph and Holly.A visitation will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, with funeral services at 1:00 PM, on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel.
