Phyllis Jean Robinson

May 25, 1943 — October 2, 2019

A service to honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis "Granny" Robinson will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Hess Hester officiating. Phyllis passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma at St. John Medical Center on October 2, 2019, she was 76.

She was born May 25th, 1943 in Norman, Oklahoma to Eugene Shearrer and Dorothy (Nichols) Shearrer. She retired after a lengthy career with AT&T as a customer service representative at the age of 72. Granny loved her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Anyone that knew Granny knew first and foremost, how proud she was of her family.

She had a special gift for making friends everywhere she went. Granny also had a bit of an ornery streak and had a knack for being very direct with her communication and telling others what was on her mind--sometimes lovingly referred to as the "tough love of Granny".

She was a talented artist expressing herself beautifully with ceramics, silversmith jewelry, tole painting, and a variety of other arts and crafts. She was very involved in the council and activity program at Brook Hollow Landing where she resided during the last years of her life. Her "office" was a certain "table" in the common area that everyone lovingly knew as "Granny's table". It was here that she could often be found visiting with others, collecting membership dues, and working her word search books. She loved being involved with Bingo and had bragging rights on accumulating hundreds of Bingo Bucks. She was an independent woman with a definite love of life!

She was preceded in death by her parents, including her step mom, Teddy Shearrer whom she loved as a mom. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Young and husband Steve of Tulsa, OK, her daughter Debbie White and husband Mark of Sugarland, TX, her son Chris Williams of Tulsa, OK and her brother, Dennis Cockerham and his wife Terri of Florida. In addition, she leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren along with numerous friends. Her family was the apple of her eye! Granny will be greatly missed by all of us. If she had last words of wisdom for us she would lovingly say "IT IS WHAT IT IS"!
