Phyllis Alice Keown

August 16, 1920 — June 12, 2018

Phyllis Keown, a Tulsa resident, died June 12, 2018 at the age of 97 with her family by her side. She was born on August 16, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Clarence and Alice Pearson. She grew up in Minneapolis and lived in Florida and California before meeting the love of her life, John Keown, in Minneapolis, MN while John was on leave from the US Army Air Force. They were married on August 2, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. After John finished medical school at the University of Oklahoma, they settled in Pender NE for 17 years before moving to Tulsa in 1968.

Phyllis loved music; she was a frequent soloist, directed a church choir in Pender, actively volunteered with the Tulsa Opera Guild and enjoyed attending a wide range of musical events. She loved nature, gardening and flowers. Her active curiosity fueled her interest in traveling, museums, food and reading. She enjoyed conversation, and her outgoing nature and keen sense of humor led to many rich and lasting friendships. She and her husband John were lifelong members of the Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by Clarence Pearson (Father), Alice Pearson (Mother), John Keown, Jr. (Husband), Burton Pearson (Brother), and Russell Pearson (Brother).

Phyllis leaves many loving memories with her son, John Keown III; daughter, Mary Milgrom and husband Henry Milgrom; Sarah Milgrom (Granddaughter)and husband Jose Flores; Benjamin Milgrom (Grandson); Jonathan Milgrom (Grandson) and wife Amanda; Sean Keown (Grandson); Hayley Keown (Granddaughter); Maria Rose Flores (Great-granddaughter) as well as many other loving relatives and a host of friends. We are grateful for the compassionate care she and John received at Montereau in their final years.
