Peter Frank Gallegos

August 8, 1944 — January 10, 2021

Peter Frank Gallegos was born Tuesday, August 8, 1944 in Tucson, AZ to Peter M. and Mary Louise Gallegos.

Pete is lovingly remembered by a beautiful and devoted wife of 54 years, Ruth.

Three children: Chris and Melissa Gallegos of Broken Arrow, OK; Sabrina and Tom Whitehurst of Richmond, TX; and his Princess, Sherri Gallegos of Bothell, WA.

Five beloved granddaughters: Ema, daughter of Chris and Melissa. Justice, Jasmine, Thailia and Makayla, daughters of Tom and Sabrina Whitehurst.

Two younger brothers: Manuel and Judy Gallegos of San Diego, CA and their daughter and John and Susan Gallegos of Bakersfield, CA and their children and grandchildren.

As a young man, Pete, chose to serve his country by joining the Navy in 1965. He served for 8 years as an Electricians Mate First Class. He was decorated with Vietnam Service Medal Third award, Armed Forces Expeditionary and First Good Conduct award. It was in the Navy where Pete found his love of Engineering. Upon completing his service with the Navy, he went on to get a degree from University of Tulsa in Electrical Engineering. He started his career with Dowell in Tulsa, OK where he stayed through several transitions and retired with Schlumberger in Sugar Land, TX in 2004.

Pete’s second love, after his family, was woodworking. He spent hours creating toys and mementos for his grandchildren, works of art for family and friends and one of a kind creations for all to enjoy.

Pete was a true definition of a man of God. He was always quick with a word of inspiration, acts of kindness and a magnitude of love for others. He spent every day finding ways to help those around him. He always had a smile on his face and was more concerned about others and their day then he was himself. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes for kids through adult and college level bible classes.

Dad, go and run free with the angels
Dance around the golden clouds
For the Lord has chosen you to be with Him
And we should feel nothing but proud.

Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a lifetime will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have.

Your face will always be hidden
Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
Shall never, ever depart.

Go and run free with the angels
As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take good care of you for me.

To honor our dads wishes there will not be a service as he did not want to risk anyone else contracting COVID. We have set up a Venmo account (@petegallegosmedfund), in lieu of flowers, to assist mom with the substantial medical bills. We understand some people may not be comfortable with Venmo; if you prefer you may mail in a donation to Ruth Gallegos, 10026-A S. Mingo Rd. #265, Tulsa, OK 74133.
