Nathan Albert Hobbs

Nathan Albert Hobbs, 80, left his earthly home and met Jesus face to face early Monday morning, December 23rd, ending his four year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Doris Hobbs of 39 blissful years and his four loving children, Bryan Hobbs of Duncanville, Texas, Julee Turner of Red Oak, Texas, Richard & Sarah Hobbs of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Justin & Sharon Courtney of Sapulpa, Oklahoma.

Nathan was the proud Papaw of five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Andrea (Annie) Turner of Red Oak, Texas, Abigail (Cinderella) Hobbs, Aliya (Goldilocks) Courtney, Brayden (Little Man) Courtney, Landon (Little Nate) Hobbs of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Jackson Gibson of Red Oak, Texas.

Nathan is also survived by his sister, Glenda Vorse of Chanute, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Nathan & Bertha Hobbs, three sisters, Zuma Hobbs, Cleta Schmitt, and Nelda Schwanz, two brothers, Richard Hobbs and Clinton Hobbs.

He was born on June 1, 1939, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and graduated from Scottsbluff High School where he was in the marching band. He then attended Bethany Nazarene College.

His work career began as a machinist for Halliburton while also working as a Deputy at Stephens County and Morgan Ambulance. In 1974 he became a business owner to A&H Security of Duncan, Lawton and Tulsa, Oklahoma. In his years of retirement, he enjoyed working at Tulster while playing practical jokes on the employees.

Nathan was an extremely hard worker in every aspect of his life. Give him a truckload of dirt, wheel barrel, and shovel - he would stay busy all day. Around 1979 he began working with sound systems and found his passion in ministry which allowed him to travel with his family to multiple states.

He will be lovingly remembered by his family for his “ducks calls” on Sunday morning, his whistling like a horse, and singing “Doe Ray Me Fa So La Ti Doe” but on a more serious note, he always encouraged his family to seek the Lord.

As only Nathan would say, “Mighty fine, thank you”

Nathan’s viewing will be Friday night, 12/27, from 5-8PM at Schaudt’s Glenpool Funeral Service located at 719 E 141st St in Glenpool, OK. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, 12/28, at 1PM at Wesleyan Bible Church located at 6600 S 33rd West Ave in Tulsa, OK.
