Mildred Jean Ward

October 27, 1929 — March 19, 2018

Mildred "Jean" Ward, aged 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 19, 2018 in her home. Jean was born October 27, 1929, in Mineola, Texas, the daughter of Virgil and Faye Fisher.

Jean married the love of her life on June 19th, 1948. Jean and Gene were married for 64 years, before he preceded her in death on December 1, 2012. She has missed him terribly, but we know he was waiting for her, along with her parents, two sisters, Virginia Ann Fisher, Sharon Decker and her brother, Doug Fisher, and numerous other family members, as she passed from this life. She has two remaining siblings, Jerry Fisher and Carolyn Spraggins.

Jean and Gene loved the lake, had numerous houseboats and welcomed many family and friends to enjoy their passion. All of her children, Jan Fox, Sandy & Randy Branstetter, Gene & Leigh Ann Ward, and John & Kelli Ward, have spent many hours of fun and adventure experiencing "life at the lake" with them. She bought a jet boat she enjoyed racing around the lake which was ironic, since she couldn't swim at all and was afraid of the water. Jean made sure her children learned to swim at an early age. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren.

Jean was all about family, spending quite a lot of time with her grandchildren, Brandi Reed, Adam Ward, Megan Gardner, Ashlyn Crow, Madelyn Broussard, and Josiah Ward. From these much loved grandchildren, she has been blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. Jean was never happier than spending time with her family.

In 1986, Gene and Jean left on an epic journey on their houseboat, through the inland waterways of the U.S. It was quite an experience that was shared with her brother and his wife, Jerry and Melva Fisher.

Jean loved family get-togethers, music, reading, shopping on-line, and wasn't a particularly good driver (at least backing up).

She is dearly loved and will be missed...until we meet again.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Funeral Service - Glenpool. Family and friends may send memories and condolences to the family, online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.
