Mary Lou Foster, a beloved matriarch, born on February 1, 1930, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away on August 15, 2023, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love, dedication, and cherished memories.


Mary Lou is survived by her children: Larry Foster (Cindy) of Marietta, GA, Garry Foster of Morris, Jerry Foster of Morris, Pam Marshall (Connie) of Muskogee, and Susan Smith (Dusty) of Salt Lake City, UT; son-in-law, Kevin Francis of Tulsa, OK. Her grandchildren, Crystal and Christopher Lowenthal, Denver Foster, Garry W. II Foster, Tyler Foster, Brian Miller (Megan), Joshua Foster, Amanda Slabaugh (Corey), Melissa Raasch (Eric), and Matthew Foster, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ella Miller, Allyson Raasch, Alexander Raasch, Sofia Slabaugh, and Violet Lowenthal, will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, Herman Foster, her infant son, Herman Jr., and her daughter, Sharon Francis. Despite the hardships she faced, Mary Lou's spirit remained strong, and she approached life with a feisty determination that inspired all who knew her.


Born and raised in Okmulgee, Mary Lou possessed a strong work ethic and an unyielding commitment to her faith. She found solace and strength in her church, the First Baptist Church of Morris, where she was a dedicated member for over 50 years. Her devotion extended to serving in the church nursery for a remarkable 25 years, making her the oldest member of the congregation. Mary Lou's boundless love for children was evident in every aspect of her life.


Mary Lou was an adventurous soul who enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a passion for water skiing, nurtured a bountiful garden, and actively participated in the family business, Foster's Propeller Service, until the age of 85. Her love for travel led her to embark on meaningful journeys, including trips to Israel and Brazil with her church community. Despite her travels, Mary Lou's heart always yearned for the simplicity and serenity of the farm.


An accomplished crochet artist and amateur radio operator (call letters KF5KK), Mary Lou embraced a wide range of hobbies that reflected her creative and curious nature. She was well into her 60’s when she obtained her concealed carry license. She married her sweetheart at the young age of 16 on February 3, 1946, and their enduring love stood the test of time, celebrating an extraordinary 47 years together. Mary Lou often remarked, "That's a long time to love one man," a sentiment that encapsulates the depth of her devotion.


Mary Lou Foster's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. Her strength, love, and zest for life will serve as an enduring inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to share in her journey. In the tapestry of life, Mary Lou's thread will forever remain an integral part of the beautiful story she leaves behind.
