Mary Lou Shumate

Mary Lou Shumate Mary Lou Shumate, a resident of Okemah, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the age of 74. She was born to Wendell and Thelma (Ferrell) Buckmaster on August 13, 1936. She married Troy Shumate on May 17, 1956 and they were married for 19 years. She later married Robert Bailey on October 28, 1977. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mildred White. Survivors include one sister, Linda Higdon of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Shirley Glossip and Lisa Nichols both of Okemah; one son, Troy Shumate Jr. of Shawnee; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010 at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah with Reverend Lloyd Raimer officiating. Burial will follow the service under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta.
