Mary Agnes Faddis

On Sunday, February 19, 2023, Mary Agnes Faddis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord at the age of 82. Mary was born on the family farm in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, on October 5, 1940, to Alfred Lee Moore and Katie Barbara Moore. She was one of eight children.

Mary grew up in the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church. She graduated in 1959 from Missouri's Osceola High School, where she was an excellent hitter and pitcher on the school’s softball team.

Shortly after, she married the love of her life, Johnny O.W. Faddis, on December 31, 1960, and moved to his hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where she became a homemaker and helped on the dairy farm. It was here that she became a mother to two daughters and a son: Karen Kay, Patricia Helen, and Kent William.

On the farm, Mary and Johnny had an open door to friends and family. Mary was known for whipping up fantastic dinners for family and guests, featuring Johnny's farm-raised beef and her freshly canned vegetables and delicious pies.

She loved being a part of the Broken Arrow community. She was a member of The Evans Friendly Neighbors Club, which raised money for student scholarships for local students and did volunteer work, such as serving Meals on Wheels. For 40 years, she was a season ticket holder for BA High School football, where she attended games up until this most recent season. However, she went to see the BA Pride more than the football team. All three of her children were members of the marching band. Mary was also a PTA homeroom volunteer for all her children.

Mary enjoyed bowling, jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. She especially loved growing beautiful flowers and keeping her bird feeders full. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. But her absolute greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother (Nana). Even though money was tight on the farm, it was one of her top priorities to make sure all her children had the opportunity to attend college. All three are college graduates. She even took the time to figure out how to use an iPad so she could keep up with her grandkids online and participate in video calls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jesse, Melvin, Claude, and John, her sisters Thelma and Dorothy, and her husband Johnny. She is survived by her sister, Eula Marie Foreman. She is also survived by her three children, Karen Thurman (Dan), Patricia Givens (Brennan) and Kent Faddis (Jennifer). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Austin Givens, Wyatt Thurman, Hayden Givens, Kaylee Faddis, and Jayce Faddis.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service & Cremation Care, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74145. 

A funeral service to honor the life of Mary will be held at 10:00 AM the following day, Friday, February 24, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5111 S Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK 74145. Per family request, we ask that anyone attending the service arrive to the chapel no later than 9:50 AM.
